This is a remote position.We are looking first for a strong systems engineer with sound architecture judgment and an active or obtainable DoD Secret clearance. Deep MBSE tooling expertise is welcome but not required on day one. This role sits within an established digital-engineering community of practice with several hundred practitioners, and we actively invest in building SysML, Cameo/MagicDraw, and DoDAF/UAF proficiency for engineers who bring the right foundation. If you are a capable systems architect deepening your model-based skills, we want to talk to you. <div style="border:none; border-bottom:solid rgb(46, 117, 182) 1pt; padding:0in 0in 4pt 0in"> <h1 style="border:none; padding:0in">What You’ll Do </h1> </div>• Architectural leadership: Lead development and maintenance of operational, business, system, data, and integration architecture for JTMS using MBSE methodologies and DoDAF/UAF frameworks. • Systems modeling: Develop and manage system models in SysML/UML capturing requirements, workflows, interfaces, constraints, and end-to-end mission threads with full traceability. • Digital engineering strategy: Drive adoption of the digital thread, authoritative model repositories, configuration management, and model-driven decision support across the program lifecycle. • Solution design: Translate business, operational, and compliance requirements into scalable solution architectures supporting COTS/ERP implementation and enterprise integration. • Integration & interoperability: Define integration patterns, interface specifications, data exchanges, and interoperability requirements across DoD, Service, Agency, and partner systems. • Governance & reviews: Establish architecture governance, modeling standards, technical baselines, and design-review processes; brief senior government and military leadership. • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with functional, engineering, cybersecurity, test, and program teams to resolve gaps, risks, and cross-domain dependencies. • Roadmap & transition: Contribute to technology roadmap development, transition planning, implementation strategy, and business process reengineering. <div style="border:none; border-bottom:solid rgb(46, 117, 182) 1pt; padding:0in 0in 4pt 0in"> <h1 style="border:none; padding:0in">What You’ll Need </h1> </div>• U.S. citizenship with an active DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one (we will sponsor eligible candidates). • 7+ years designing enterprise, system, or solution architectures for large-scale IT programs in DoD or comparable regulated/enterprise environments. • Demonstrated systems-engineering capability: you can decompose a complex system and model its structure, behavior, interfaces, data, and end-to-end mission/business threads with full traceability — independent of any single tool. • Working proficiency with a SysML/UML modeling approach in a recognized tool (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw, Sparx EA, Rhapsody, GENESYS, or similar), plus familiarity with an architecture framework such as DoDAF or UAF. • Strong communication skills, including technical briefings and architecture documentation for executive and senior military audiences. • Aptitude and motivation to deepen MBSE and digital-engineering skills, with support from our digital-engineering community of practice. • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field — or equivalent professional experience. <div style="border:none; border-bottom:solid rgb(46, 117, 182) 1pt; padding:0in 0in 4pt 0in"> <h1 style="border:none; padding:0in">What Will Set You Apart </h1> </div>• Active DoD Secret clearance. • 5+ years of hands-on MBSE / digital engineering in complex system-of-systems environments. • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, or a related field. • Direct experience supporting USTRANSCOM, DoD logistics, transportation, supply chain, or ERP modernization programs. • Experience generating technical documentation, reports, and deliverables directly from system architecture models. • Experience architecting solutions that integrate COTS/ERP platforms with custom DoD systems. • Ability to extend MBSE tool capabilities through scripting, APIs, or plugins. • Familiarity with digital twin, digital baseline management, and AI/ML integration within MBSE frameworks. • Experience with cloud-based architectures, DevSecOps pipelines, or zero trust in DoD environments (AWS GovCloud, IL4/IL5). • Knowledge of the DoD acquisition lifecycle, JCIDS, and business process reengineering in enterprise transformation. • Certifications such as OCSMP, INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, TOGAF, SAFe, or AWS/Azure architecture credentials. <div style="border:none; border-bottom:solid rgb(46, 117, 182) 1pt; padding:0in 0in 4pt 0in"> <h1 style="border:none; padding:0in">Why This Role </h1> </div>• Mission scale: Shape the authoritative architecture for a system that moves people and materiel for the entire U.S. joint force. • Build, don’t inherit: Define the digital-engineering strategy and modeling standards rather than maintain someone else’s.
