This is a part-time, remote consultancy suited to someone with a solid grounding in bookkeeping or junior accountancy who is comfortable working independently, managing routine financial processes accurately, and picking things up quickly.</p> <p><br></p> <p>The role is focused on the operational essentials: processing payments, organising financial documentation, managing credit card transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting day-to-day bookkeeping. It is a great fit for someone early in their finance career who enjoys precise, well-organised work and wants exposure to the financial operations of a mission-driven organisation.</p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-weight: bold">Key responsibilities</span></p> <ul> <li>Prepare and process payments (vendor and consultant payments, reimbursements, and other outgoing transactions) in the banking system, ensuring accuracy and proper authorisation.</li> <li>Maintain and organise financial documentation for all transactions, ensuring records are complete, correctly filed, and easy to retrieve.</li> <li>Manage credit card transactions: collecting receipts, checking expense claims, and ensuring transactions are properly coded and documented.</li> <li>Carry out regular bank and account reconciliations, identifying and flagging discrepancies promptly.</li> <li>Support preparing monthly budget-vs-actual reports and dashboards.</li> <li>Support compiling actuals and figures for annual budget planning.</li> <li>Maintain supplier records and support maintaining the fixed assets register.</li> <li>Support drafting grant expenditure reports for funders, for Interim Finance Manager review.</li> <li>Support basic bookkeeping tasks, including data entry and transaction allocation in the accounting system (Business Central).</li> <li>Assist with the preparation of supporting documentation for audits and funder reporting as needed.</li> <li>Flag any issues, errors, or inconsistencies to the Interim Finance Manager in a timely manner.</li> <li>Provide general administrative and financial support to the finance function as priorities require.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-weight: bold">Profile</span></p> <ul> <li>A background in bookkeeping, finance assistance, or junior accountancy, gained through study, training, or work experience.</li> <li>Comfortable with the fundamentals of financial transaction processing, basic reconciliation, and document management.</li> <li>Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to repetitive financial tasks.</li> <li>Able to work independently and reliably in a remote setting, managing your own time within agreed working hours.</li> <li>Comfortable using accounting and spreadsheet software; experience with Business Central is a plus but not required.</li> <li>Good written English; additional European languages are an asset but not essential.</li> <li>Based in the EU or the UK, with the right to work as an independent consultant in your country of residence.</li> <li>A genuine interest in supporting the work and mission of Systemic Justice.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-weight: bold">Practical details</span></p> <ul> <li>This is a consultancy engagement, not an employment contract. The successful candidate will need to invoice Systemic Justice as a self-employed consultant or via their own company, in line with the regulations of their country of residence.</li> <li>24 hours per week, with possibility of additional hours during peak periods.
