Job Description:
- Provide accurate and timely assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes on medical records
- Review medical records, super bill, and charge sheet to identify diagnoses and procedures
- Assign ICD-10-CM codes and CPT-4 codes to outpatient procedures
- Abstract diagnostic and procedural codes into the network system
- Review and monitor assigned work queues and physician notes reports
- Provide information on specific problem accounts to the Coding Supervisor
- Collaborate with the Coding Supervisor, Physician, and Practice Manager
Requirements:
- 3 years of experience in hospital and/or physician practice outpatient coding
- Minimum of one of the following certifications: Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, coding guidelines, and computers
- Proven detail orientation and good problem-solving related to coding
